Event Summary:
Recently we interviewed Geoffrey Moore, tech's most famed author and strategy consultant, about the future of the industry. We asked him whether services had finally become core to the future of our companies. For the first time that we know of, he said yes. BUT he uttered important words as a caveat:
“The service [executive] community has been falling behind in not bringing enough intellectual framework to the dialogue. There is nobody else in the company who can bring this framework…"
Geoffrey is correct: at too many companies, services has assumed a supporting role. 2012 is the year where that must change. By any measure – percent of revenue, profit contribution, growth rate, emerging business models – services is no longer just a second class citizen. Services has become the key to corporate growth, profits and competitive differentiation.
Especially in the era of the Cloud, service executives need to gain a true seat at the corporate table. No one knows more about how to gain, grow and profit from service offerings. No one knows more about how customers use your products and derive value from them. These are not just nice-to-have insights: these will become table stakes to the performance of tomorrow's great companies.
So it begs the question: What are YOU doing to get a seat at the table at your company? How are YOU planning to move services to the front and center of a business management culture built on a product + sales DNA? TSIA and our consulting partner PwC are working on how to meet this challenge with companies like yours every day. We are beginning to see how successful executives can "manage up" about this major revolution in tech. We want to share these insights throughout 2012. Let's work together to build the business case, bring the frameworks, and offer the roadmap for change.
Join us for this essential kickoff to our "Power Up for Cloud Services" series.
